Roelene West was born in Warburton and has lived there all her life. She started painting recently and quickly discovered that painting is very good for her wellbeing. Being surrounded by other artists at the art centre inspires her and encourages her to keep developing her practice. Roelene enjoys painting stories about women in the bush, travelling together and searching for food and water. Through her work she reflects everyday life on Country and the strength of women sharing knowledge and supporting each other. Painting has become an important way for her to stay connected with community and culture
