Description
Pantu, or salt lakes, are found across the desert near places like Atila (Mount Connor) and Curtain Springs. These vast, dry lakebeds are part of the Seven Sisters songline, where the Sisters travelled through the land, fleeing from Wati Nyiru. Their journey shaped the country and left behind important sites filled with meaning.
Salt lakes are not only part of story—they are landmarks in the landscape. Yanangu people have a deep knowledge of how water moves across the land. Rock holes and other water sources are carefully remembered and respected, especially during the dry season.
